I WISH for you this presidential election the excitement of my ancestor son_John E. Williams II.
What started out as a routine election run November 2008 has now become a treasured memory for me on so many levels.
Headed to the Calhoun Center five thirty in the morning was met with a welcomed surprise... Gilpin Court residents already in line to vote "candidate" Barack Obama the first African American president of the United States of America. In that year I had a car, a eldest son and a job. This year I have none of the aforementioned, but God IS still good.
As I pulled into the parking lot to park, slowing down in the parking space not quite at a complete stop my son jumped out of the car, left me I say to go cast his vote for "candidate" Obama. I was glad, horrified and stunned, all at the same time. And being the mom of a grown son and not really realizing the "grown" part and ready to say "come back here" ...like I could push the re-set button which would have allowed the not scared part of the jumping out of the car..funny, funny as my mom would say.
The silver lining for me now is that I get to share his excitement with you in hopes that the shear excitement of the simple yet very fundamentally important duty of civic engagement can once again produce this joy for a population of fellow citizens as we embark upon a time of humanity restoration in my opinion.
Integrity is MOST important! And CHOICE on many issues is inextricably tied to this integrity. Without either, could we be sending humanity into depths possibly never ever recovering from...Hurricane Sandy may provide an eye opener for life changing possibilities...ya think!
~Obedience is Better than Sacrifice~ Should we always be faced with the possibility of death in order to know the humanity thing to honor. I say NOT.
Joy in the simple things in life springs from each of us and the respect to work through our choices should guide us each and every day and not on those days of major influence.
What have YOU JUMPED ...not so much out of a car to get to but ... jumped in anticipation to accomplish for in your life?
I WISH for YOU the excited JOY to demonstrate that we as a people will choose a forward path in truth and integrity as we decide the hard choices of life forever more!!!
